In a lavish celebration of business innovation and success, the iconic St. Georges Hall was the venue for the 2023 Liverpool Chamber Innovation in Business Awards.
Over 500 guests enjoyed a spectacular night of great food, entertainment, and red carpet style recognition for sixteen worthy winners.
MSP were proud once again to provide full technical production services for the event including sound, lighting, video and projection plus set and staging featuring a large central LED videowall.
Creating the environment
The amazing Victorian architecture of the main hall was the perfect challenge for our talented lighting team to create a visual spectacle that would elevate the event to new heights.
The team used a versatile rig of over 100 fixtures including LED battens, LED flood and wash lights plus an extensive plot of intelligent moving heads, all controlled by a Chamsys MQ250M lighting desk. This created an evocative palette of rich colour moods, producing an environment that complimented perfectly with the dynamic atmosphere coming from the stage.
“Rather than holding an event in a space, the concept here was to incorporate this imposing venue as an integral part of the event stage set” explained MSP Project Manager and event designer Alister Harding.
With its high ceilings and hard marble surfaces, the hall is an acoustic challenge that needs expert planning to ensure the sound on the night is just perfect. Our Nexo Geo M10 line array system was the perfect choice for the occasion, projecting the presenter vocals clearly across the whole room with perfect intelligibility and coverage with no dead spots in the room.
The audio team designed a system based around four ground stacks of 3 GEO M10 on top of 2 MSUB15s, two either side of the stage covering the centre of the audience and two spaced further out covering the outer reaches.
MSP MD Colin Reader explained: “Our NEXO system gives us a very precise set of tools to achieve consistent coverage in any space, with the headroom and bandwidth necessary to move effortlessly from speeches to live music”.
Setting the scene
The Innovation in Business Awards stage set featured a central 5m x 3m LED videowall backdrop, perfect for displaying the nominee entry video stings and award categories. Live camera relay of the stage action was displayed on two huge 16:9 projection screens using Panasonic laser projectors so everyone could clearly see the action. LED video wall pillars either side of the stage displayed a motion montage of sponsor logo’s throughout the evening. As well as creating content and idents for the screens, the MSP creative team produced a post event highlights video for the client.
Speaking on behalf of the Liverpool Chamber, Marketing Executive Jessica Miller said, “The way MSP Global transformed the room was insane and it was obvious how hard the team had worked to deliver such an exceptional event.”
