Case Study
River of Light Festival
River of Light is an annual outdoor illuminated gallery on Liverpool Waterfront, featuring light and sound inspired installations from local, national and international artists. Featuring some never-seen before, brand-new commissions, the 2023 theme, following on from hosting an incredible Eurovision Song Contest earlier in the year, is United by Light, a continuation to Eurovision’s ‘United by Music” theme.
MSP were once again proud to be asked for technical support for two very topical and exciting major new exhibits.
Taking its name from the theme of the Eurovision and in tribute to the music of Eurovision 2023 which took place in Liverpool earlier in the year, United By Music was a 12-meter round, multi-purpose performance space in front of the iconic Liver Building.
Designed by Yellow Studio of New York following on from their creative input at Eurovision, its radiant pink exterior captures the eye by day and transforms into a captivating light-up art installation at night.
This unique space was designed to nurture a spirit of togetherness and celebration in the community by inviting people to gather, dance, and sing.
Featuring a high energy soundtrack that includes 6 songs from the actual competition, our challenge was to provide a high power sound system that could be secreted away within the exhibit.
The exhibit was an amazing finale for Liverpool being able to host a Eurovision contest that delivered hope and unity against a backdrop of war.
Ukrainian Dreams
FESTIVAL.ORG presented Ukrainian Dreams, an installation created by Tais Poda & RocknLight Studio. The vivid and wildly imaginative works of Ukraine’s best loved artist were brought to life by this audio-visual projection mapping spectacle, expressing the hope and pride of the Ukraine nation.
The weird and wonderful works of Maria Prymachenko which feature fantastic beasts, multicoloured landscapes of rural Ukraine, and white patterned birds longing for peace, have become a symbol of Ukraine’s collective spirit and artistic soul.
Using innovative projection mapping animated to an original Ukrainian folk music score, the works tell a timely story of peaceful harmony and nature, war and resistance, that filled the iconic Albert Dock landmark.
To ensure all the visitors to the installation could immerse themselves fully in the exhibit, MSP provided a powerful, high-quality distributed sound system, tailored to the space.
